The IC697ALG441 Input Expander Module is a 16-point differential input expander module which belongs to the GE Fanuc Series 90-70 product line of programmable logic controllers or PLCs. It provides the flexibility to add analog inputs to an application. It also acts as an interface between the processor and input devices and actuators. The IC697ALG441 Input Expander Module is suitable to use with the GE Fanuc IC697ALG base converter modules and expansion modules. Some of the benefits of using this module are that it can minimize the initial material and inventory costs, it is easy to configure and use, and it maximizes the use of the inputs and efficiency of the system. It is factory-calibrated at 10 Volts +/- 2 mV with +/-.03% from the full value and +/-.02% from the value of the maximum error.

The IC697ALG441 Input Expander Module has an input impedance of greater than 10 megohms. All the inputs are isolated from the backplane of the base converter module. The field side of the module does not require a power supply. Even though it offers 16 inputs to the PLC system, the number of inputs can be increased to up to 120 by creating a daisy-chain series of 7 IC697ALG441 input expander modules. The configuration of the module can be easily done by using the MS-DOS verson of the Windows configuration software. There is no need to use jumpers or configure DIP switches during configuration. During installation, turn off the power when installing or removing the terminal boards. The design of the terminal board accepts wire sizes in the AWG 22 to 14 range. The differential inputs of the module do not depend on the ground reference or power supply commons and it runs both input lines to the signal source while providing excellent noise rejection.
