The SYNCHROTACT 5 digital synchronization device is used for automatic synchronization and juxtaposition between generators and the grid, as well as for juxtaposition between already synchronized grids. The system frequency for this device is 50/60Hz or 16 2/3 Hz.

The whole automatic juxtaposition process can be divided into the following four basic functional modules:
1. Measurement;
2. Voltage matching and frequency matching;
3. Monitoring of parallel conditions;
4. Parallel command generation.

measure
The following measurements are based on two single-phase voltages:
Voltage U1, U2
U1 is the reference voltage, for example: line voltage;
U2 is a adjustable voltage, e.g., generator voltage.
Frequency f1, f2
f1 is the reference frequency;
f2 is an adjustable frequency.
Voltage difference ∆U
∆U = |U1| – |U2|
∆U > 0 indicates that the adjustable voltage is lower than the reference current;
∆U < 0 indicates that the adjustable voltage is higher than the reference voltage.

For installation, the SYNCHROTACT 5 synchronous device offers three test functions:
1. TEST ton (parallel time test) : switch on the circuit breaker, determine the parallel time, and adjust the measured voltage;
2. TEST U-Match: Adjust the voltage of the voltage matching unit to the voltage regulator;
3. TEST f-Match (frequency matching test) : Adjust the frequency of the frequency matching device to the frequency of the governor;
