The working principle of the pillow block tensiometer is based on the piezomagnetic effect, that is, under mechanical loading, the magnetic properties of the magnetic conductive material will change. When subjected to mechanical loading, the magnetic field pattern generated by the primary coil in the sensor changes, and part of the magnetic flux is coupled to the secondary coil, thereby inducing an alternating voltage in the secondary coil that is proportional to the mechanical loading.
There are two main designs of the pillow block tensiometer: one is designed to measure the vertical force of the transmission, and the other is a special design of the strip tension coil caused by only the horizontal tension. This design makes the pillow block tensiometer particularly suitable for the accurate and stable measurement of tension in metal handling lines, such as pickling, annealing, galvanizing lines, etc.
