The fiber feedback signal is received through the control backplane and transmitted to the DSPX controller. At the same time, it also uses the RS-232C to communicate between the DSPX and the tools and keyboard ports via a backbone connector.
The EISB is a single-slot, 3U high module located in the control rack under the DSPX. It receives current and voltage signals from the generator’s magnetic field (and exciter if necessary) through fiber optic connectors on the front panel, and receives and transmits these signals to the ground detection module.
EISB also includes ISBus interface electronics for redundant exciters, and an RS-232C driver for communication with the computer through the tool port.
