The IC697ALG320 is an advanced analogue output module for Series 90-70 programmable logic controllers (PLCs), previously manufactured by GE Fanuc, rather than Emerson Automation. The module is designed to occupy a single slot on a 5-slot or 10-slot backplane and draws current from the backplane, drawing a maximum of 1.66 A (8.3 W) from the user supply at 5 VDC and 150 mA for current output. the IC697ALG320 is equipped with four (4) individually configured output channels that produce voltage and current outputs, specifically 0-20 mA / 4 20 mA current output signals and -10 VDC / +10 VDC voltage output signals. It has a built-in digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) circuit with 16-bit resolution and monotonicity, with 312.5 microvolts per LSB step for voltage and 0.5 microamperes per LSB step for 4 to 20 mA. The maximum sequential conversion rate for all analogue output channels is 2.0 ms. The module is factory calibrated and the calibration data is stored in the module’s EEPROM. It also has a continuous short circuit function which automatically returns the outputs to their normal state once the fault has been resolved. When configured for voltage operation, the analogue output load specifications include a minimum of 2000 ms for resistive loads and a maximum of 1000 picofarads for capacitive loads. For current operation, output load specifications are up to 700 ohms for resistive loads; 1.0 microfarads maximum for capacitive loads and 250 millihenries maximum for inductive loads. The accuracy of the module is influenced by a specific temperature coefficient of 25 PPM per degree Celsius for voltage and 50 ppm per degree Celsius for current.

It ensures that the output is protected from overvoltage and transient conditions. It saves calibration data in its non-volatile EEPROM. Users can connect multiple IC697ALG320 output modules to archive up to 252 output channels. It is recommended to connect up to 7 modules in the CPU rack and up to 8 modules in the expansion rack.
