The GE Fanuc IC697CPX928 is a Series 90-70 Central Processing Unit (CPU) module. This CPU has 6MB battery-backed memory, and 256KB non-volatile user flash memory, processor speed of 96MHz with typical scan rate of 0.4 µs per Boolean function. This processor has One (1) RS232 serial port, Two (2) RS485 Serial port and One (1) Factory Reset port.

The GE Fanuc Series 90-70 module with catalog number IC697CPX928 is a Central Processing Unit (CPU) that is used mainly to execute user program downloaded to the CPU’s memory. This CPU module is a single slot chassis that features an 80486DX4 microprocessor with speed of 96 MHz and 0.4 µs per Boolean function execution. This module is equipped with an on-board memory of 6MB battery-backed up RAM and 256KB non-volatile user flash memory where CPU firmware is also stored.

The IC697CPX928 is capable of handling a maximum of 12K inputs and outputs of any combination, and up to 8K analog Input and Output. It supports 32-bit floating point data.

The IC697CPX928 is configured using the programming software. It has no jumper terminals or DIP switches for hardware parameter setting. Application software are Programmed by MS-DOS software products, or Windows based software products running on Windows 95 or Windows NT over Ethernet TCP/IP or through an SNP port.

This controller has is equipped with Seven (7) status LEDs specifically, a lithium battery that is used to retain the contents of the Random Access Memory (RAM), and communication ports such as One (1) RS232 serial port, Two (2) RS485 Serial port and One (1) Factory Reset port.

The IC697CPX928 is compatible for use with a variety of option modules to enhance and provide additional capabilities to the CPU. These option modules include Ethernet Interface modules, Programmable Coprocessor, Alphanumeric Coprocessor, Bus Controller, Communication modules, I/O Link Interface, and the entire IC697 discrete and analog I/O modules family.

The nominal current required by the IC697CPX928 module is 3.1 Amps. The input voltage required is 5 Volts DC. With forced air-cooling rated at 70 CFM, the module can be operated at ambient temperatures between 32 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

Without forced air-cooling, the range of operating temperatures of the IC697CPX928 CPU module is reduced to between 32 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Depending on the types of power supply that are available, 120 Volts AC, 240 Volts AC, or 24 Volts DC-powered rack fan assemblies can be installed on the IC697CPX928 module. The CPU module comes with 3 serial ports, of which 2 ports support RS-485 communication and 1 port supports RS-232 communication. These serial ports can be used to interface with programming devices for CPU configuration. Additionally, optional Ethernet modules can also be installed in the PLC to enable the configuration of the IC697CPX928 module over Ethernet networks. The I/O supported by the IC697CPX928 module include a maximum of 8000 analog I/O and 12,000 I/O in any mix. The IC697CPX928 module requires 1 slot in GE Fanuc Series 90-70 PLC rack for installation. A total of 7 LEDs are provided on the front of module for status updates.
