The GE Fanuc IC697CPX935 CPU is a single-slot PLC CPU manufactured by GE Fanuc as part of the GE Intelligent Platforms/GE Fanuc PLC Series 90-70 product line. This module comes with 3 built-in serial ports and it can perform the real-time control of systems. The IC697CPX935 CPU communicates with various intelligent option modules through the rack mounted on the backplane by using VMEC.1 format. The CPU runs with a connection to a computer through software or by the use of a 3-position run and stop control switch. It also comes with a 96 MHz microprocessor, which enables the device to perform floating-point calculations after every 0.4 microseconds. The IC697CPX935 CPU supports any combination of 12,000 inputs and outputs and up to 8000 analog inputs and outputs.
The GE Fanuc IC697CPX935 CPU supports modules in the GE IC697 family, analog and discrete I/O modules, and alphanumeric and programmable display processors. It also supports communication modules, GE IC660 and IC661 bus controllers, and link or LAN interface modules. The IC697CPX935 single-slot PLC CPU has 1 MB of RAM that is backed up by using the IC697ACC701 battery. It also comes with flash memory with about 256 KB of storage capacity for user data. The flash memory of this unit is used to store the system firmware. The users of this device do not need to disassemble this device or have the EPROM replaced when updating the firmware. The GE Fanuc IC697CPX935 CPU is configured by using a connected computer that runs software applications or MS-DOS in the Windows NT or Windows 95 operating systems.
The IC697CPX935 is also provided with a 96 MHz, 80486DX4 microprocessor with Boolean execution speed of 0.4 microseconds, It has an integrated 1MB battery-backed Random Access Memory (RAM) and 256 KB non-volatile flash memory. This controller accommodates 12K bits of Discrete input and output data. For analog Input and output, the controller has 8K Words memory allocation. This enables the controller to be used in large applications due to the I/O capacity it is capable of.
The IC697CPX935 must be installed in an environment not exceeding 50 Degree Celsius. This CPU requires use of a Forced air-cooling fan to maintain the temperature with limits. Cooling fan assemblies may be used with this CPU such as Rack Fan Assembly with voltage rating 120 VAC (IC697ACC721); Rack Fan Assembly with operating voltage of 240 VAC (IC697ACC724); Rack Fan Assembly at 24 VDC with catalog number IC697ACC744.
This CPU is downloaded with user programs that is develop using the MS-DOS or Windows based programming software. Aside from standard I/O and option modules, this CPU also supports communication with I/O and smart option modules over a rack mounted backplane that supports VME C.1.
